KMUW 89.1 FM offers two-hour Mike Marshall special

KMUW FM 89.1 hosts a two-hour special featuring one of today's most accomplished and versatile mandolinists, Mike Marshall, beginning at 10 p.m. Tuesday Aug, 2.

Mike Marshall has worked in new grass, jazz, Brazilian, classical and other genres over the years, appearing with the David Grisman Quintet, the Modern Mandolin Quartet and as a leader. His wide-ranging projects have showcased both his versatility on the mandolin, and his ability to work comfortably and artistically in virtually any genre.

He returns to Wichita in person this week for another performance with acclaimed classical mandolinist Caterina Lichtenberg, and in advance of that appearance, KMUW highlights two hours of music from Mike Marshall at the Savannah Music Festival.

In the first hour, he appears with an old friend from the Grisman Quintet, fiddler Darol Anger, and one of today's top Scandinavian folk ensembles, Vasen.

In hour two, Marshall joins acclaimed bassist Edgar Meyer and multi-instrumentalist Sam Bush.
