* The Heskett Center is closed now through Sunday, Aug. 7, for maintenance. The business office will be open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Aug. 4-5, for purchasing memberships and other business.

* The Center for Management Development is offering "Managing and Improving Customer Service" from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, in Woodman Alumni Center. Lunch is provided. * After serving WSU for 19 years, Mike Call, assistant director of the WSU Purchasing Office, is retiring. Faculty and staff are invited to celebrate Call's retirement at a reception from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, in the Purchasing Conference Room in the basement of Morrison Hall, room 021.

* The Graduate School Office has planned a mandatory GTA (Graduate Teaching Assistant) Workshop for all new GTAs from 9-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, in 218 Hubbard Hall.

* The Media Resources Center and KMUW 89.1 have calendar strips that adhere to a computer monitor. The 2011-12 academic year-at-a-glance calendar is a handy reference. Call 978-3575 if you would like calendars for faculty and staff in your department.
