Pre-Tenure Club to begin second year

The Pre-Tenure Club will begin its second year of providing information and support to new faculty members who are planning to earn tenure at Wichita State University with an organizational meeting from 3-4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, in 115B Neff Hall (Honors seminar room).

Whether you are brand new on campus or going up for tenure review next year, you'll find the Pre-Tenure Club a friendly and useful resource. Please RSVP to ofdss@wichita.edu or 978-3209. If you can't attend but wish to be included in future Pre-Tenure Club communications, please use the same contact info to let us know.

Come to any meetings you can. No need to commit to attending every meeting. Meetings are hosted on different days of the week so that more people have the chance to attend.

We discuss various topics including:
- charting your course on the tenure track
- managing your time
- balancing research, teaching, service, family and life
- finding a mentor and getting advice on how to succeed at WSU
- expectations for tenure
- forms and processes for applying for tenure
- and more

We sometimes invite guests to speak to us, for example, the provost, chair of the university T&P committee and others). Often we just have informal discsussions about whatever might be on our collective minds. And we have at least one social event each semester. Last year's members reported getting a lot out of the club.
