WSU joins with Designated Drivers to continue free Shocker Safe Ride program to students

A new contract with Designated Drivers LLC, begins today (Monday, Sept. 12). With the new contractor, students will continue to receive the same safe alternative to impaired driving service with only a few minor changes. Hours of operation will be 7 p.m.-7 a.m., 365 days a year. Students can call 978-RIDE (7433) beginning at noon on weekends and 7 p.m. during weekdays to schedule a pick up.

There is no charge to the student for rides delivered inside the designated boundaries: 45th Street North, 47th Street South, 127th Street East and 119th Street West.

If a student needs to go beyond the described boundaries, the student will be charged $2 per mile. Tipping is encouraged.

Within the designated boundaries, faculty and staff can use Designated Drivers to provide them a safe way home for themselves and their vehicles at a flat rate of $14 with an additional $2 per mile outside the boundaries.

Designated Drivers also has executive limousine and Tahoe transportation services available to WSU employees at a discounted rate. Remember to call Designated Drivers at 944-0809 for all your local personal and professional transportation needs.
