WSU joins with Designated Drivers to continue free Shocker Safe Ride program to students

Wichita State University has agreed on a contract with Designated Drivers LLC to continue the Shocker Safe Ride program for WSU students. The contract begins today (Monday, Sept. 12) to assure no gap in service for students.

Shocker Safe Ride is a Student Government Association-sponsored program that discourages drinking and driving by ensuring all current WSU students and their vehicles a free and safe ride home.

The service is available to all enrolled students regardless of age and is completely confidential.

Shocker Safe Ride will be available to students from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., 365 days per year. Service is provided free for students traveling to residential destinations within the following boundaries: 45th Street North, 47th Street South, 127th Sreet East and 119th Street West.

All destinations beyond those boundaries will have a cost of $2 per mile to the student rider.

Wichita State students can use this free service by calling (316) 978-RIDE (7433).
