Enrollment enables Wichita State University to provide mid-year pay increase to faculty and unclassified staff

Beginning with the spring semester of the 2011-2012 academic year, a 2.5 percent cost of living salary increase will be put in place for faculty and unclassified employees who were employed in their current position in FY11. Details to implement this increase are under discussion.

President Don Beggs said, "The increases in enrollment and number of credit hours are a result of the dedicated service and hard work of all employees whose efforts have generated excellent results in helping WSU provide a positive and successful educational experience for an increasing number of students."

Interim Provost Keith Pickus indicated that the increase is both an important reward for past efforts and a necessary initiative to retain faculty and unclassified staff.

Vice President for Administration and Finance Mary Herrin said: "This is the first general adjustment in salary during the last three years for the faculty and unclassifed professionals. University salaries for persons in classified positions are determined by the State of Kansas and therefore cannot be a part of this cost of living adjustment." She also indicated the university would continue to explore ways to support all staff.
