Did you know that by age 21 the average child will have watched 1 million commercials and that more than 80 percent of fourth-grade girls have been on a fad diet? For more than a decade, NOW Foundation's Love Your Body Campaign has been calling out the fashion, cosmetics and advertising industries for promoting unrealistic images of women. WSU students and staff are also doing their part. To draw attention to the negative images of women's (and men's) bodies that continue to be portrayed in the media, FOCUS (Feminists on Campus) will be tabling in the RSC from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. today (Wednesday, Oct. 19). The theme is "You are a Masterpiece." Be sure to add a "heart" to the "Shocker's Love their Bodies" display when you stop by.
