After Scott earned his master's degree in choral music education at WSU, he taught high school choral music for five years. A noted bass soloist who has served as choir director for Wichita's University Congregational Church for the past 23 years, Scott has performed in numerous operas and other musical productions at Wichita State, and with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra and Wichita Chamber Chorale.
In other endeavors, Scott and his wife, Patsy, founded and own Prairie Pines Christmas Tree Farm and, since 1964, he also has worked as a State Farm insurance agent.
In 1997, he teamed up with an artistic director to develop Chamber Music at the Barn, which promotes appreciation of chamber music by offering concerts "of artistic excellence in an intimate, casual, country setting."
Scott regularly travels to other venues nationwide to observe their chamber music productions and incorporate new practices into the Wichita operation.
