* Applications are available for the new Dependent/Spouse Tuition Assistance Program. Information and applications are posted on the Human Resources website at http://www.wichita.edu/j/?1346. All applications must be complete and turned in to Shelly Kellogg in the Office of Human Resources by 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12.
* The Office of the Provost announces a search for associate provost for administration and outreach, a 12-month, 1.0 FTE appointment, which is the point person in academic affairs for matters involving faculty, students, advising and community colleges. * The Department of Human Performance Studies will hold its 8th Annual Chili Cook-off and Student Appreciation Day today (Thursday, Dec. 8) in the Heskett Center lobby. Those who want to taste chili need only bring a canned food item (or $2), which will be donated to the Kansas Food Bank. Judging starts at 11 a.m. and general tasting begins at 11:30 a.m.
* The Sanitary Fairs were held during the Civil War to raise huge sums of money for the medical care of soldiers. A talk by Lorraine Madway, curator of Special Collections, will feature Sanitary Fairs images from the WSU Libraries' Kantor Collection -- one of the leading collections of these materials in the United States -- from 7-9 p.m. today (Thursday, Dec. 8) at the Marcus Welcome Center. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
* The Off Broadway play "The Bus," will be performed at 7 p.m. today (Thursday, Dec. 8) in the CAC Theater. Tickets are $10, general admission, for the general public, and $5 for the WSU community. * Let your child spend the afternoon with the WSU Dance Team learning dance routines and playing games from 2:30-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at the Heskett Center. Registration for children ages 3-14 begins at 2 p.m. The cost is $15 per child, and a snack is provided.
