Now that's orange!

The faceplates of the absent Miro mural's metal armature are now a brilliant orange, thanks to the inspiration of artist Tony Feher. The artwork, painted in DayGlo's "Safety Orange" and titled "Carl Sagan, Carl Sagan," is the first in a series of site-determined artworks for the Ulrich.

Feher is recognized internationally for this ability to find beauty in unexpected places and for creating artworks that encourage viewers to do the same. His fascination with the science of the natural world led to the artwork's title, named for the famous astronomer who popularized science in the hit 1980s PBS television series "Cosmos." Subsequent works by Feher will be installed across the Wichita State campus as part of the outdoor sculpture exhibition "Extraordinary Ordinary," which officially opens in March.
