Wichita State confirms one student has TB
The student has been isolated and will continue in isolation until a doctor releases the student to attend classes. Given that WSU classes just resumed today (Tuesday, Jan. 17), contact with this student has been limited. The student has been receiving prescribed medication since last week. Wichita State University has and will continue to follow all guidelines outlined by the Kansas State Health Department.
Student Health Services remains in close contact with the SCHD while treatment for this student is ongoing. WSU and the SCHD are doing everything possible to ensure that this student receives the proper treatment and that the health and safety of all students, faculty and staff are preserved. The TB disease is caused by bacteria.
Student Health Services and the SCHD are available and willing to answer general questions about TB.
