Lessons from adult book group discussions

Steven R. Yussen, professor and director of undergraduate studies and honors program at the Institute of Child Development, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, will present "Discussing contemporary fiction: Lessons from adult book group discussions" at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, in 155 Corbin Education Center. The campus community is invited to attend.

Yussen's research examines literacy practices that can be applied to both adolescent and adult readers in a variety of settings. For example, it can inform research -- and practice -- on the processes that underlie comprehension in middle school, high school, and college students, as well as beyond. Yussen was invited to the WSU campus by Catherine Bohn-Gettler, assistant professor of educational psychology in the WSU College of Education, who received her doctorate from the University of Minnesota.
