Services set for professor emeritus Melvin Snyder

Melvin "Mel" Henry Snyder, 90, professor emeritus, aerospace engineering, and director emeritus of the Center for Basic and Applied Research, National Institute for Aviation Research, died Saturday, Feb. 25. Rosary, 6 p.m. today (Monday, Feb. 27); memorial service, 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, both at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Wichita.

Mel is preceded in death by parents, Florence Ruby (Snyder) Snyder and Melvin Henry Snyder, Sr.; his first wife, Jeanne Marie (King) Snyder; younger brother John "Jack" Henry Snyder; son-in-law Mark Shall and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Cathleen "Kay" Ann (Collins) Snyder; their six children, John Henry (Patricia) of Las Vegas, Nev., Janet Ellen (Jeff Greenham) of Morgantown, WV, Mary Anne Shall of Beaverdam, Va., Ann Katherine Rishell (Michael) of Wichita, Susan Dolores (Michael Gebert) of Chicago, Ill., and Robert Melvin George (Gina) of Powder Springs, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Dolores (Collins) Crum (Charles), Robert Maurice Collins, Bernard George Collins and Joanne (Collins) Powers (Neil).
