Faculty, staff and graduate students are welcome to attend the webinar "Designing a Learning Process -- Not Just a Course" from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, in the Wireless Learning Space at the Media Resources Center. This is the first in a five-part series from the Wiley Learning Institute. In this new style of webinar that the Office for Faculty Development and Student Success is piloting this semester, registered participants have access to pre- and post-event materials and feedback from the presenter. Please RSVP to ofdss@wichita.edu or 978-3209. Feel free to bring your lunch.

Webinar description: Participants will learn how to structure a logical, cohesive course around measurable student learning outcomes.

Linda B. Nilson of Clemson University will show you how to formulate clear, assessable learning outcomes; how to organize them chronologically into ultimate, mediating, and foundational categories; and how to create an outcomes map that will serve as the working skeleton for your course. You'll study and use three frameworks to organize your outcomes in a pedagogically logical way, and also create and populate a working outcomes map encompassing strategies and assessment.

The workshop will cover the teaching methods that, according to research, are among the most effective tools for preparing your students to achieve your outcomes and the best strategies for measuring how well they have achieved the desired outcomes.
