Chemistry department to feature guest speaker

Scott Hultgren, Helen L. Stover Professor of Molecular Microbiology and director of the Center for Women's Infectious Disease Research at Washington University in St. Louis, will give a seminar at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, in 224 McKinley Hall. Hultgren's presentation will be "Urinary Tract Infection: Molecular Basis of Pathogenesis and Disease Outcomes."

Hultgren is a world leader in the area of urinary tract infection research, and many of the current protocols for treatment of the disease have come from his laboratory. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Eli Lily award, a Nobel fellowship from the Medical Nobel Institute, and was recently elected to the U.S. National Academy of Science.
