Faculty Artist Series presents Rodney Miller, bass-baritone

The Facutly Artist Series presents Rodney Miller, dean of the College of Fine Arts, in a concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, in Wiedemann Recital Hall. Miller is a veteran of the operatic stage. His repertoire of nearly fifty roles includes Mephistopheles, Figaro and Emil deBeque. For tickets, call 978-3233 or go online to http://www.wichita.edu/fineartsboxoffice.

Miller has been on national broadcasts both in the United States and Europe, and has recorded for labels on both continents.

He began his professional career with Chautauqua Opera in New York as Don Basilio in Barber of Seville, for which he received reviews calling his performance "magnificent." Wichita combines his experience in metropolitan settings with his love for the people and culture of the great American plains.

Accompanying Miller will be Julie Bees, a professor of piano at Wichita State. She performed the Ravel Piano Concerto in G with the Wichita State Symphony orchestra on their tour of Spain. Next season she will return to Hong Kong for more concerto performances, and has been invited to St. Petersburg, Russia.
