Meet WSU authors of tornado alley book at Exploration Place
In this multimedia presentation by the National Weather Service's Chance Hayes, learn the basics of thunderstorm development, storm structure, cloud identification and more. You'll also learn the correct way to report storm information and follow basic severe weather safety.
In addition, there will be an opportunity to meet the authors of "Kansas: In the Heart of Tornado Alley." Jay Price, director of WSU's public history program; Craig Torbenson, associate professor, U.S. geography; and Sadonia Corns, Jessica Nellis and Keith Wondra, graduate students in the Department of History will talk about their experiences with Kansas twisters and how they relate to our state's stormy history. No prior experience is required and no general museum admission is needed to attend.
Stick around after the session to encounter the extreme weather found on other planets in the new National Geographic full dome film "Wildest Weather in the Solar System" in the Boeing Dome Theater and Planetarium.
Special admission offer: If you attend this program, you can get discounted admission tickets to Exploration Place -- $4 exhibit admission, $2 dome admission (per person, tax not included). To receive this discount, tickets must be purchased at Exploration Place from 9:30-10 a.m. before the session begins.
