The funeral for Phil Bowers will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, at Countryside Christian Church, 1919 S. Rock Road. A section will be reserved for Wichita State. Bowers died Thursday, May 10. He was 56. Bowers was assistant director for TRIO Disability Support Services. He worked at WSU for 23 years. While at WSU, Bowers provided workshops for the Upward Bound program. He began working at the inception of the TRIO Disability Support Services program in September 2001. The WSU Foundation Memorial Scholarship fund has been established in Phil Bowers name through TRIO Disability Support Services.
