Post office announces changes for mailing international packages
International shipments being sent from the U.S. are subject to federal export laws and regulations that may require approval for, or otherwise restrict, what can be sent to certain countries, individuals and entities.
While customers are responsible for complying with these laws, the Postal Service is implementing policy changes to help ensure that international mail can be delivered in a safe and timely manner.
The Postal Service also is using this opportunity to introduce changes to international mail processes that makes shipping abroad faster, easier and more reliable. Compliance will be monitored and failure to adhere to the change could result in fines and penalties from other federal agencies, and could cause delays and returns of international mail piece.
