Regents elects chair and vice chair

The Kansas Board of Regents has elected a new chair and vice chair. The nine-member board elected Tim Emert of Independence as the new chair and Fred Logan of Leawood as the new vice chair. The chair and vice chair will serve one-year terms beginning in July.

Former Gov. Mark Parkinson appointed Emert to the Board of Regents in 2010. He serves as a member of the governance and academic affairs committees and has served as the vice chair of the board. Emert is a partner in the Emert, Chubb and Gettler law firm in Independence, Kan.

Emert earned his associate degree from Independence Community College. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in journalism and Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas.

Gov. Brownback appointed Logan to the Board of Regents in 2011. He serves as a member of the academic affairs and governance committees and as the board's representative on the Transfer and Articulation Advisory Council.

Logan is an attorney and partner of Logan Logan & Watson LC in Prairie Village. He earned his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor from Indiana University.
