* The campus and community are invited to attend the farewell reception for Shirley and Don Beggs from 2:30-4 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at the Preferred Health Systems Practice Facility at Charles Koch Arena. The WSU Foundation is collecting personal notes and photos for a scrapbook of their 13-year tenure at WSU. All items may be sent to Stacie Williamson at campus box 2.

* Lake Afton Public Observatory will be open for a very special event -- the transit of Venus -- from 4:45-8 p.m. today (Tuesday, June 5). A transit of Venus occurs when Venus passes directly between the sun and Earth. For more information, go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?1611.

* The Intensive English Language Center needs volunteers to be conversation leaders on Wednesdays, helping international students practice English conversation skills. If you are a native speaker of American English and would like to volunteer, send an email expressing your interest to william.thomas@wichita.edu. For the next few weeks until the end of the summer session, the Wednesday sessions are 10-11:45 a.m., noon-1:45 p.m., and 2:15-4:15 p.m.

* Training on Microsoft Beginning Outlook 2010 will be offered on Thursday, June 7, in 119 Jabara Hall. This hands-on training introduces the user to customizing their Outlook experience. For more information on topics, training dates and registration, log in to myWSU, select EmpHelp and myTraining, then click the Register button.
