Ulrich Museum staffing announcements

Teresa Veazey, the Ulrich Museum's public relations manager, has been named interim director of the Ulrich Museum, effective Sept. 17, while a national search is conducted, according to interim provost Keith Pickus. The appointment is expected to last three months. Recently it was announced that museum director Patricia McDonnell is leaving to become director of the Wichita Art Museum.

Veazey has served as the museum's public relations manager for more than 10 years. Well-connected in the Wichita community and a past president of Wichita Professional Communicators, Veazey will guide operations and programs.

Rodney Miller, dean of WSU's College of Fine Arts, is chairing the search committee for the next Ulrich director.

Emily Stamey, curator of modern and contemporary art at the Ulrich Museum, has accepted the position of associate curator at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art in Scottsdale, Ariz., according to Ulrich Museum of Art director Patricia McDonnell.

Among Stamey's many accomplishments while at the Ulrich, she co-authored "Art of Our Time: Selections from the Ulrich Museum of Art, Wichita State University," the catalogue supporting the 2010 collection exhibition that went on national tour.

Stamey also curated the popular exhibition "Fisch Haus 21: An Artists' Collaborative Comes of Age," for which she wrote the accompanying catalogue.

She is also organizing "Stocked: Contemporary Art from the Grocery Aisles," which opens in January 2013 and will include a catalogue she authored.

Stamey, who joined the Ulrich in January 2008, begins her new position at SMoCA in early September.
