* Lake Afton Public Observatory, sponsored by Fairmount Center for Science and Mathematics Education at WSU, will feature the program "Messier Album" from 9-11 p.m. today (Friday, July 6) and Saturday, July 7. There is an admission charge. For more information, go to http://webs.wichita.edu/lapo/.
* Student Health will offer discounted screenings to employees needing credit for the HealthQuest Rewards Program. From 8-10 a.m. Monday, July 9, through Friday, July 13, employees can receive blood work results (i.e., biometric data) for only $20. Note: Please do not eat or drink 10 hours prior to your blood draw. No appointment is necessary. For more information, contact Student Health at 978-3620.
* The Intensive English Language Center needs volunteer drivers to be conversation leaders, who spend time on Wednesdays helping international students practice English conversation skills. We especially need drivers of vans, minivans and big cars. If you are a native speaker of American English and would like to volunteer, send an email expressing your interest to william.thomas@wichita.edu.
* If you are interested in learning new skills for weight management, join a free four-session class 8-9 a.m. every Tuesday, July 10-31, in 206 Heskett Center. Learn essential strategies to maintain a healthy weight. Participants will receive educational materials and free recipe booklets, and will be led through the process of creating a realistic, individualized health plan. Call 978-3440.
* The WSU Judo Club invites male and female high school sophomores, juniors and seniors to take part in judo training under a new outreach program that allows high school age children, including those of WSU faculty and staff, to train alongside the collegiate members of the WSU Judo Club.
