Here's a story with a happy ending

Alan Beisel, head of maintenance at the Heskett Center, was walking through the women's locker room during renovation and found a 1989 high school class ring with a name engraved on the inside. He started doing some research one evening and the next day he called and got help from the WSU Alumni Association. The woman had married since getting her name engraved on the ring, so this was no small feat. After work, Alan drove to her house and gave her the ring that had fallen in a crack between two lockers more than 20 years ago. According to Alan, she remembered the day she lost the ring like it was yesterday and was appreciative to have it back.
