Wichita State legend Linwood Sexton was honored as one of 13 recipients of the 2012 Pioneer Award recently at the John McLendon Minority Athletics Administrators Hall of Fame reception in Dallas. The event was in conjunction with the 47th Annual National Association of Collegiate Directors (NACDA) Convention. Sexton was the first African-American to be named to the Missouri Valley All-Conference team three times (1945-47); and first African-American to graduate with a bachelor's degree in education from the Missouri Valley Conference (1948).
