Forum for faculty interested in wind energy research
The forum's purpose is to develop a road map for Kansas industry, government and higher education institutions to collaborate in: 1) conducting wind energy research and development and 2) educating and training the future Kansas wind energy workforce. Attendees will include representatives from universities, community colleges and technical colleges across Kansas, as well as representatives from government and industry.
Topics will span engineering and other related sciences as well as economics and the social sciences. Funding to help make this forum possible comes from Wichita State University, the University of Kansas and Kansas State University via their participation in the Kansas Board of Regents' Council of Chief Research Officers.
The forum will start with a late afternoon poster session on Wednesday, Sept. 26, to foster networking with colleagues at other educational institutions as well as with industry and government. The posters will address research and education programs at colleges and universities across Kansas.
Thursday, Sept. 27, will be devoted to sessions for sharing information about research and education activities as well as information about industry needs/interests and government policy.
Friday's session, ending at noon, will focus on: 1) identifying areas of potential collaboration in research and education, 2) discussing potential funding opportunities, and 3) setting short and long term goals to develop the identified collaborations and to pursue needed resources and support.
