Celebrating 40 years of excellence in PA education

WSU's Physician Assistant Department in the College of Health Professions is celebrating its 40th year. The PA program opened its doors in fall 1972 and started its first class of 12 students in January 1973. Originally housed at the VA Medical Center, the program moved to Ahlberg Hall in 1980. It has progressed from being a certificate program to a bachelor program, and since 2004 has been a graduate program awarding a Master in Physician Assistant degree. More than 1,200 physician assistants have graduated from WSU's PA program. Currently, there are 96 students enrolled in the program.
