President Bardo encourages support of United Way

September 28, 2012

Dear campus colleagues:

During the past few years, many of our fellow employees and their families have benefited from the humanitarian and social services supported in part by United Way of the Plains.

Last year alone, WSU faculty and staff used United Way-supported services on more than 435 occasions. We used services in education, helping children achieve their potential; income, promoting financial stability; and improving people's health.

In these difficult economic times, it isn't possible for everyone to give a large amount; the important thing is for all of us to do what we can. Our individual gifts are a meaningful way to say "thank you" and in the process support the services that make Wichita a quality place to live, work and raise families.

We hope that you and your family will seriously consider giving to the United Way this year through the campus campaign. You can do so by returning your pledge card. We want others in the community to know that Wichita State employees and students support these worthwhile agencies.

Many of you are active as volunteers in community service, including service on allocation committees and in board positions with United Way-supported agencies. We thank all of you who give your time, expertise and money to support the United Way in the Wichita area.

Respectfully,

John Bardo
President
