Shockers shoot into second round with NIT win

Wichita State advanced to the second round of the NIT with a 76-49 first-round win against Nebraska Wednesday at Charles Koch Arena.

Three Shockers posted double-digit points totals, led by David Kyles' 13 points, as the Wichita State men's basketball team advanced to play Virginia Tech (22-11), which deafeted Bethune-Cookman, 79-54, in a first-round game Wednesday.

Wednesday marked the No. 4-seed Shockers' second-straight NIT appearance and 12th overall. Wichita State improved to 25-8 overall. Fifth-seeded Nebraska closed the season with a 19-13 record in front of a crowd of 7,336.
