The following is an excerpt from goshockers.com about the WSU men's basketball game versus Emporia State University.
Wichita State jumped out to an early 15-0 lead in the opening five-minutes, and never surrendered the lead to take a 71-58 victory over visiting Emporia State in the Shockers’ exhibition at Charles Koch Arena.
In the first half, J.T. Durley’s three-pointer at the 19:35 mark started WSU’s 15-0 run. Durley caught fire early, scoring seven of the Shockers’ first nine points. The sophomore finished the contest with 14 points and six rebounds.
“I liked the way J.T. played tonight," Coach Gregg Marshall said. "He helped out on defense, taking those charges. The threes that he took were wide-open and in rhythm. He’s playing better, we’ve just got to get him to where he can give more quality minutes.”
