Award-Winning Hedge Fund Founder Dr. Silver Kung Joins Barton School Dean’s Advisory Board

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University is pleased to welcome Dr. Silver Kung to its Dean’s Advisory Board. Dr. Kung is the founder, chairman, and chief investment officer of Siegfried Capital.

“Wichita State is where my collegiate academic journey began,” said Dr. Kung. “It’s an honor to give back to my university and contribute to the advancement of the Barton School of Business, helping position it among the best in the world.”

Dr. Kung founded Siegfried Capital Group in 2015, focusing on a single investment strategy in supply chain finance for institutional investors worldwide. Currently, Siegfried Capital manages approximately $2.62 billion in assets across various markets, including Luxembourg and the Cayman Islands. The firm has received several awards for its performance, including recognitions from HFM and Bloomberg, and is a signatory of the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment.

Before Siegfried Capital, Dr. Kung founded Hyperion Capital Management, which focused on renewable energy and solar power plant development in Italy and Spain. He has also worked at a local investment bank in Taipei and with hedge fund firms in Taiwan and Hong Kong, where he was responsible for developing cross-border and market arbitrage trading models using financial derivatives. Also, he served as a part-time professor at National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology for 10 years.

Dr. Kung earned a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Wichita State University, a Master of Science in Finance from Pace University, and a Ph.D. in Economics from Nankai University in Tianjin, China. He is very passionate about climate change and is a member of UBS Global Philanthropy Group's Climate Change Collective.
