The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University is proud to announce Michael Horn as the keynote speaker for its Fall 2025 James Schwartz Distinguished Speaker Series. Horn is the author of several influential works, including the national bestseller Job Moves: 9 Steps for Making Progress in Your Career.
His engaging and insightful presentation, “The New Career Playbook: Mastering Job Moves in a Changing World,” will draw from his latest book to provide attendees with a fresh perspective on identifying their personal “quest for progress,” evaluating opportunities, and taking ownership of their career paths.
This free public event will be held on Thursday, September 18, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a networking session. The first 75 attendees will receive a complimentary copy of Job Moves.
“This book was the culmination of nearly 15 years of research,” said Horn. “It began with the insight that just as employers hire employees, employees also hire their employers. After our mentor Clay Christensen passed away, my coauthors and I wanted to honor his legacy by transforming our research into something meaningful and practical.”
Horn is an acclaimed author and thought leader whose works include Disrupting Class: How Disruptive Innovation Will Change the Way the World Learns, Blended: Using Disruptive Innovation to Improve Schools, and Choosing College. He is the co-founder and a distinguished fellow at the Clayton Christensen Institute for Disruptive Innovation and teaches at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
In addition, he co-hosts two top-rated education podcasts—Future U and Class Disrupted—and is a regular contributor to Forbes.com. He also authors the Substack newsletter The Future of Education and serves as executive editor at Education Next. His work has been featured in leading outlets such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, Harvard Business Review, and NBC.
“Michael is a prolific writer and speaker,” said Dr. Larisa Genin, Dean of the Barton School. “Whether you’re just starting your career, seeking a new direction, or simply want to better understand the evolving world of work, this is an event you won’t want to miss.”
