Meet a Shocker: Jesús Nogués

 

Jesús Nogués came to Wichita State University from Paraguay because of the university's reputation for industry partnerships and applied learning. He was not disappointed.

Jesús is one of more than 2,200 students eligible for spring 2023 graduation. Learn more about his time at Wichita State and what's next for the grad.

What made you want to attend Wichita State?

The excellent engineering programs and the variety of internships that Wichita State students can have in any of the companies located in Wichita. These internships help students to gain real-life engineering experience and grow as professionals. 

How are you feeling leading up to graduation?

I am super excited about what the future holds for me. I can’t wait to start my full-time job as an electrical engineer. 

What has been your biggest challenge as a student, and how did you overcome it?

I think that having classes during COVID-19 was a big challenge for most of us. I needed to adjust to online classes for almost two semesters.

What has been your most helpful learning experience at Wichita State?

Having the chance to do internships during my four years of college. I was able to work at National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) for almost three years, and then I work for an engineering consultant company in Wichita.

What are your plans after graduation?

I will be working as an electrical engineer in a local company in Wichita. 

What advice would you give other Wichita State students?

Get out of your comfort zone and involve yourself in the activities and organizations that you like. Make new friends and that will make your college life a memorable experience.
