The Growing Rural Businesses Model is an eight-week certificate program customized for rural businesses. Launched in February 2012, GRB provides practical, applied information and examples necessary for rural communities in Kansas. WSU business professors and Center for Entrepreneurship staff conduct fall and spring 8-week entrepreneurial certificate programs. Since its launch Growing Rural Businesses has held classes in Dodge City, Greensburg, Thomas, Augusta, Clay Center, Marion, Hillsboro, Garnett, Phillips County, McPherson, Scott City, El Dorado, Cowley County, and Leavenworth County. Over 160 businesses have been served through this program, including a variety of different industries: law offices, lumber yards, cafés, furniture manufacturers and retailers, auto repair businesses, greenhouses, grocery stores, glass repair and install companies, interior designers, physical therapy clinics, vet clinics, manufacturing and various others.
