Counseling student, Brenda Mattson explores her sandtray kit provided by Project Teacher in CESP 750p, Counseling Children and Adolescents.

Wichita State University's school counseling program has partnered with Project Teacher to provide resources and support for future school counselors and professionals currently serving students in area schools.

The partnership was recently highlighted during a Wichita Public Schools professional development event, where Dr. Lyndsey Brown presented to nearly 400 school counselors, school psychologists and school social workers on creating intentional systems of belonging in schools. Project Teacher provided each attendee with a Care Kit as part of the organization's efforts to support educator well-being.

The partnership also provides resources for Wichita State School Counseling students. This fall, students enrolled in the Counseling Children and Adolescents course received personal sand tray kits, valued at $125 each, to use while learning sand tray counseling techniques. Students can also keep the kits for their future professional practice.

Project Teacher will also provide Counselor Care Kits twice each semester to WSU School Counseling practicum and internship students. The partnership will extend to practicing school counselors who serve as site supervisors and mentor WSU students.
