Wow! We had some great conversations during Critical Design Reviews! Many of the mentors online were new to this and they were blown away by all the creativity. So what is next…..
Practice Day is this Saturday, Oct 24. We will open the doors of Heskett center to the teams at 8:00, and practice rounds should start at 9:00.
There is plenty of parking for buses (See map below). The interactive map for WSU can be found here. Parking is open on Saturdays (exceptions: any handicapped stalls, fire lanes, marked reserved stalls, service and loading zones, timed parking areas, or the parking garage).
Compliance
After entering Heskett, go up to the second floor (stairs or elevator). Check in first. If Compliance is backed up, you will get a number. Go on into the pit area and prepare for practice. Listen for your number to be called. When you are called to Compliance, that is the priority – go do that (if you aren’t in the middle of a match). You may miss a match, but there is always plenty of time to get another practice match in. We recommend you print a Compliance Checklist before coming to Practice Day and review it as a team. Bring the completed Compliance Checklist to the table with you. Pay close attention to the results of the Compliance check. All issues need to be taken care of by Game Day. You can still practice with issues, but they must be addressed to compete on Nov 7. Take your time to understand what the Compliance Staff are telling you. Ask questions if you don’t understand. Snap a photo of the completed assessment if you like.
BE SURE YOU GET A COMPLIANCE CHECK BEFORE YOU LEAVE! Do not leave before you get through a compliance check.
Review the following in the Rules Document::
1. Team Custom Part List
2. Compliance Checklist
3. Game Rules
Part of Compliance will be to check that you have submitted your Notebook and Code of Conduct. These must be in .pdf format and uploaded using the Team Files Upload Tool.
Pits will be open to all teams. Each table will have a sign with the team name on it. Charging stations will be identified with signs as well.
Bottled drinks are allowed in the gymnasium. Food may be brought into the lobby (first floor), but cannot be brought upstairs. Please take care of your trash responsibly.
Audience is welcome to sit in bleachers. The area of the track in front of the bleachers will be roped off so that those in stands can see the game floor.
You are not required to stay for all your scheduled matches, but you are encouraged to spend some time getting to know other teams, asking questions of them and the Referees, notes taking notes or pictures.
When you decide to leave the event, please let Staging know, clear off your table and stack it where designated, check for any equipment at the charging table, and take care of trash in your area (including the bleachers).
We do not provide lunch or concessions at this event. You may bring a lunch into the main level of Heskett if you like. Please clean up after yourselves if you do that. There are also several restaurants on and around campus.
