Building a future in engineering
Project Lead The Way (PLTW) is a pre-engineering program for K-12 schools that prepares
students to pursue careers in engineering, computer science, and related technical
fields. PLTW provides a fully developed, project-based curriculum. In PLTW classes,
students complete hands-on activities where they apply and reinforce concepts in math
and science while working as part of a team. Wichita State is a proud partner university
for the PLTW Launch, Gateway, High School Engineering, High School Computer Science
and High School Biomedical Sciences Pathways.
Wichita State University has determined that three PLTW courses on the High School
Engineering Pathway are equivalent to introductory college courses: Introduction to
Engineering Design (IED), Digital Electronics (DE), and Engineering Design & Development
(EDD).
