Recycling in Kansas
In Kansas, commercial and residential recycling programs are available for a wide
variety of materials. From appliances to batteries to paper products to metals, haulers
are transporting reusable goods to various reprocessing agents across the state.
The business of recycling has changed dramatically in recent years due to changes
in outlets for recyclable materials and the COVID-19 pandemic. Understanding the
current state of recycling in Kansas will increase the State’s ability to change,
adapt and develop new opportunities.
Through a survey for recycling stakeholders, we will investigate potential new markets
that will provide Kansas recyclers opportunities to increase material reuse and recycling
to reduce landfill pressure and improved economic development.
