Recycling in Kansas

In Kansas, commercial and residential recycling programs are available for a wide variety of materials. From appliances to batteries to paper products to metals, haulers are transporting reusable goods to various reprocessing agents across the state.

The business of recycling has changed dramatically in recent years due to changes in outlets for recyclable materials and the COVID-19 pandemic.  Understanding the current state of recycling in Kansas will increase the State’s ability to change, adapt and develop new opportunities.

Through a survey for recycling stakeholders, we will investigate potential new markets that will provide Kansas recyclers opportunities to increase material reuse and recycling to reduce landfill pressure and improved economic development.
