[equivalent of 17 hrs or 3 hours above the 210-level]

Arabic 111, 112 [no 3rd or 4th course available, must take 111, 112 in another language to fulfill LAS requirement]

Chinese 111, 112, 210 [no 4th course required]

French 111, 112, 210 + one more

German 111, 112, 220 + one more

Italian 111, 112, 223 [no 4th course available, must take 111, 112 in another language to fulfill LAS requirement]

* Upper division culture classes can count toward the language requirement beyond the 3 core courses OR as an area studies course, but not both. Literature classes do not count toward an IS major.

* Some languages do not offer a large number of courses. Instructors start the 3-course cycle once every year and half. This can make it challenging to complete the language courses unless you start them early.
