Alumni Spotlight: Luke Parrett

Hi! I'm Luke and I graduated from the School of Digital Arts in Spring 2025 with a focus in filmmaking.

I originally chose Shocker Studios because of its location, affordability, and hands-on opportunities for its students. Since graduating in the spring of 2025, I’ve been working on short films and putting my degree to use as a Multi-Media Producer at my local news station, KAKE News. The job market has been really tight recently, so I feel incredibly lucky that it only took a few months for me to find the right fit. I’ve been in my position for about three months now, and I couldn’t be happier.

One of my biggest accomplishments since graduating has been adjusting to this new chapter in my life. Balancing a full-time career, creative projects, and time with friends. It hasn’t always been easy, but I’ve managed to stay grounded, productive, and inspired as I continue to grow.

The biggest piece of advice I try to carry with me is that everyone’s path is different. It’s easy to compare yourself to others, especially with social media and limited opportunities, but the only thing holding you back is yourself. Be patient, don’t give up on your dream, and enjoy the journey.
