"My study abroad experience felt like an adventure. The best part was experiencing a new country. I was able to try new foods, visit fun places, and meet many people."

Why did you choose to study abroad in Costa Rica over winter break?
I chose Costa Rica because of the class offered over winter break applied to my major. I learned about the history of Costa Rica’s healthcare system and compared it to other countries. It allowed me to have a global understanding of how healthcare can work and affect countries’ citizens.
How do you think you have benefited from your study abroad experience?
My study abroad experience helped me grow in ways I did not expect. For example, I grew outside of my comfort zone from having to navigate a new city and speaking Spanish. I learned I am more capable than I thought I was. I also benefited from learning about Costa Rica’s healthcare system, influencing my perspective on how healthcare should be delivered. Overall, I learned lessons that I will take with me throughout my life as I travel more of the world and grow in my career.
