HI THERE SHOCKER🟡⚫️! Have you been in a library that has vending machines, 3D printing, 3D scanning, a sound booth and a virtual reality zone? Well, look no further because we have it all here and much more in our very own Ablah Library📚.
I am going to take you through the amazing services provided in Ablah Library which you might not have known. Since there is so much to cover I will split this blog series based on floors. Fun fact: Ablah Library has 3️⃣ floors. Without wasting time let's jump right into it and talk about my favourite floor which is the 1st floor!
📚24-Hour Study Room: We can not talk about the first floor without mentioning the 24-hour study room. This is located at the main entrance of Ablah Library. The space includes a restroom, vending machines, comfortable seating, whiteboards and a computer lab. The room is available to anyone on a first-come, first-serve basis. For safety, the space has been equipped with video surveillance📹 and three emergency phones📞 with direct connections to the Campus Police station🚓. Doors to the 24-hour study room lock during closed hours which is after 9 pm Monday to Friday.
📚C-Space: C-Space which stands for Creation Space (C-Space) is an area for collaboration and experimentation where WSU students, faculty, and staff can come together to learn new things and work with advanced media technologies on various projects. C-Space is the space that includes the Media Design Zone, Sound Booth, Virtual Reality Zone, Advanced Development Zone, Scanning and Digitization, One Button Studio, Product Photo Studio, 3D Printing and 3D Scanning, and Light Board Room.
📚Collaboration Area: There are 4 collaborative👥 study tables available in the Learning Commons. Clickshare connectors are available at each table to connect up to 4 laptops 💻 and share the content on the 60-inch television.
📚Community User (Visitor) Computers:There are 3 computer workstations for public use in the Community Resource Center (CRC) in the Reserve section on the first floor of Ablah Library📚. Printing 🖨and scanning services are also available.
📚Learning Commons: Located on the south side of the first floor the learning commons has desktop PCs and study areas with a variety of seating styles, as well as printers and book scanner. Two large-screen televisions are located in the Learning Commons and audio is broadcast over designated FM channels. TV/FM receivers can be checked out at the Circulation Desk.
📚Reserve Area:Located within the reserve area are course reserve materials, textbooks, computers, printers, copiers, scanning workstations, current periodicals and newspapers, C-Space, a popular reading collection, and DVDs and VHS including the Shocker DVD collection. Areas for individual and group study are also available.
📚Study Spaces: Located in various areas on the floor these areas allow for group or individual study. There are 20 group study rooms located throughout Ablah Library. Twelve rooms are available for use on a first-come, first-serve basis. The remaining eight rooms may be reserved by current WSU students, faculty and staff. Study rooms can accommodate groups of 2 to 14 people depending on room size. Book a Study Room - Rooms 214, 226, 228, 232, 314, 324, 332 & 341 can be reserved online.
