Tournament Format

MID-STATES:

The Mid States Tournament is a Tier 1 event that consists of six team games and 16 Baker games. All scores are scratch with no bonus pins awarded. The top eight men's varsity teams advance to a best three-of-five, single elimination Baker bracket to determine the champion.

JAYHAWK COLLEGIATE CLASSIC:

The Jayhawk Collegiate Classic consists of five team games and 16 Baker games. All scores are scratch with no bonus pins awarded. The top eight men’s varsity teams advance to a best three-of-five, single elimination Baker bracket to determine the champion.

LEATHERNECK CLASSIC:

Day one of the Leatherneck Classic features 5 traditional team games. On Day two, all teams return to bowl an additional 16 baker games. Once the team games and baker games are completed, the field is cut to the top 8 men's teams based on total pinfall. These teams will compete in a best two-of-three, single elimination Baker bracket to determine the champion.

MCKENDREE MATCH GAMES:

McKendree Match Games is a Tier I event that features the top teams in the country. All teams will bowl five traditional games on Saturday and return on Sunday for an additional 20 Baker games. The champion is determined based on total pinfall over both days of competition.

GLEN CARLSON LAS VEGAS INVITATIONAL:

Another Tier I event, all teams bowl five traditional Team games on day one. On day two, all teams return for three more traditional Team games. The field is then cut to the top 16 men's teams for a best three-of-five, single elimination Baker bracket to determine the champion.

COLLEGIATE SHOOTOUT:

In this Tier I event, teams will bowl five traditional games on day one. On day two, all teams return to bowl an additional 16 Baker games. The field is then cut to the top eight men's teams who will be split into two 4 team pods and will compete in an eliminator-style finals to determine the champion.

SWIBC V:

SWIBC V is a one day event that begins with four traditional team games, followed by 10 Baker games. All scores are scratch with no bonus pins. The champion is determined by total pinfall.

SWIBC VI:

SWIBC VI is another one day event that consists of six traditional team games. All scores are scratch with no bonus pins. The champion is determined by total pinfall.

McKENDREE BAKER:

Teams will bowl 24 Baker games on day 1 and will return on day 2 to bowl an additional 16 Baker games. At the completion of those 40 baker games, the field will be cut to the top 8 teams for a best two-of-three, single elimination Baker bracket to determine the champion

HOOSIER:

The Hoosier Classic is one of the largest and most competitive events of the season. This Tier I event features six traditional games on one pattern, 15 Baker games on a different pattern, and a best three-of-five single elimination bracket on yet another pattern. The field will be cut to the top 8 teams after the six traditional games and 15 Baker games. The best three-of-five single elimination Baker bracket will then determine the champion.

ITC SECTIONAL QUALIFIER:

This event is the first and most important step to advance to the National Championships. Four Sectionals are conducted across the USA, with the top 80 men's and 64 women's teams, in seasonal power rankings, advancing. Each team will bowl 64 Baker games with total pinfall determining the top four teams from each sectional; these teams advance to the 16 team field at the Intercollegiate Team Championships.

USBC NATIONAL INTERCOLLEGIATE TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS:

The Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) is a total Baker game tournament. At this point, over 180 teams will have gone through the same elimination process. The top 16 teams in the country are those participating at the ITC. Teams will bowl 24 Baker games to determine what seed they will be before going into the double elimination bracket. When the brackets are complete, the top two teams still in contention will bowl a match, normally taped on national television, to determine the men’s and women’s National Intercollegiate Team Champions.
