Dr. Timothy Jones, Violin along with accompanist Gene Philley, Piano will open the 2021-22 Faculty Artist Series with an evening of Brahms. Two violin sonatas and several smaller works will be performed. Brahms' final violin sonata in particular is a prime example of the rich textures and rhythmic creativity which places the composer as the icon of German Romanticism.

Dr. Jones is a Wichita native who currently an Assistant Professor of Music at Wichita State University as well as serving as Associate Concertmaster of the Wichita Symphony. Prior to coming to WSU, Dr. Jones taught strings at the middle school level in the Wichita Public Schools, and in higher education he lectured at Azusa Pacific University and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul.
