Nathaniel Wheatley’s path into IT started at Ennovar, where he worked as a Tier 1 and Tier 3 IT Technician. While earning his CompTIA A+ certification, Ennovar gave him the hands-on experience and confidence he needed to take his first steps into the professional world. “My time with Ennovar provided me a lot of highly valuable work experience, as well as some great professional connections,” he said. “Ennovar helped grow my confidence as an IT professional and enabled me to overcome the dreaded ‘imposter syndrome’ that I felt when I was just starting out.”

Today, Nathaniel works remotely as an IT Support Technician for the U.S. District Courts in the Western District of Texas. He’s the first point of contact for employees needing tech support, diagnosing problems, troubleshooting, and making sure things get to the right teams when needed. On top of that, he helps manage electronic inventory and Apple devices, while jumping into IT projects whenever there’s an opportunity.

What stands out most to Nathaniel about his time with Ennovar is the environment. “It was always a positive atmosphere, where we all supported and mentored each other, and celebrated each other’s successes.” That sense of teamwork and encouragement helped him carry the confidence to his current career.

When he’s not working, Nathaniel enjoys PC and retro gaming, Dungeons & Dragons, and karaoke.

For current students, his advice is: “Don’t be afraid to jump into new projects and new tasks whenever you get the chance. Your fellow student workers and supervisors will be happy to help teach you the skills you need, and having more skills/projects to put on your résumé will make you very valuable to potential employers.”

Looking back, he’s clear about how much Ennovar shaped his career: “Working with Ennovar was possibly the best possible start I could have had as an IT professional. I’ll always be thankful for the awesome career opportunities it has afforded me.”
