Wichita State's Information Security Office has provided the following information regarding the safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence services. The information on this page addressess possible instructional uses of AI, especially as it relates to ChatGPT and other generative AI. Restricted Data (Unacceptable risk; do not put into AI system.)
WSU Restricted Data is highly sensitive data intended for limited, specific use by a workgroup, department, or group of individuals with a legitimate need to use or access the data. Explicit authorization by the Data Custodian is required for access because of legal, contractual, privacy, or other constraints. Unauthorized disclosure could have a serious adverse impact on the business or research functions of the University, affiliates, or external parties and violate the personal privacy of individuals, federal or state laws and regulations, or contractual obligations of the University. WSU Restricted Data has a very high level of sensitivity. Examples are listed below.
- Social Security Number
- Credit card number
- Individually identifiable health information including FERPA treatment records
- Passport number
- Personnel records
- Protected Health Information (PHI)
- Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)
- Information or data subject to Export Control regulations,
- Data under “For Official Use Only” (FOUO) classification
- Facilities and Technology Control Plans
- Sensitive Personally Identifiable Information (SPII)
