Student Body President Khan Appoints Interim Student Body Treasurer

Pursuant to Statue 034, Student Body President Rija Khan has signed an executive order appointing Zachary James as the interim Student Body Treasurer. James will go up for full confirmation when the Senate returns to session in August 2020.

James is a junior studying Political Science. He has been a Senator for the last three sessions of the Association. As a Senator, James served as a former Chair of the Diversity, Empowerment and Inclusion Committee, a student representative to the President’s Diversity Council, a member of the Student Fees Committee and was recently appointed as the Chair of the Task Force on the Black Student Experience.

President Khan chose James for his experience within the Senate and Student Fees Committee. His understanding of the updated Student Fees process will be crucial in his transition as the Interim Student Body Treasurer. He served as an Out-of-State Student Representative during the previous Student Fees process.

According to President Khan, “his prior experience with student fees makes him an ideal candidate for the role. His passion, work ethic and perspectives will bring new ideas to the table. We are excited for him to evolve in the role and make the student fees process more transparent.”

James’s experience within the Association will transition to his new role. He has worked to ensure students come first as a Senator and we are excited for him to do the same as the next Student Body Treasurer.
