HOW TO CREATE A VIDEO RECORDING

1. Record in Zoom.

Prepare by making sure your notifications are silenced and email or chats are closed so you are not interrupted.

2. Download Zoom to your computer.

  • When you click Download, the site will detect your machine platform and operating system and choose the correct download.
  • Run the install file just as you would for any other app installation.

3. Log into Zoom.

  • To log into WSU Zoom you must login through the SSO option.
  • Enter the company domain wichitastate
  • Enter your myWSUID@wichita.edu and password to login.

4. Share your Screen.

  • You may open your PowerPoint slide for screen sharing (don’t forget to keep visible)
  • Start a new meeting with no other attendees in Zoom.
  • Make sure your video is on and your microphone is not muted.
  • Select Share Screen, begin screen sharing and start slide show in PowerPoint.
  • Click and drag the video box to the upper right corner of your screen. Your face must be visible at all times during your presentation.

5. Start Recording.

  • Your recording can be saved to your computer.
  • Zoom will save the .mp4 video file to your local computer. By default, the recordings are placed in the documents folder on your computer.
  • To begin recording select “Record” in the Zoom menu.
  • To find the recording option when screen sharing is on, simply hover over “You are screen sharing” at the top of your screen.
  • A menu will pop down, hover over more to display more options and select “Record.” A little red recording dot will appear beside “You are screen sharing.”

6. Begin your presentation.

  • Remember that your presentation begins when you start speaking and is timed.
  • When you are finished, stop screen sharing, stop recording, and end your meeting.
  • After ending your meeting, Zoom will automatically convert your recording to .mp4 and save the file to your computer.
