Executive in Residence Keynote - Curt Coffman

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University has announced Curt Coffman as its Fall 2023 Executive-in-Residence. Coffman is the founder of The Coffman Organization and co-author of New York Times bestsellers, “First Break All the Rules: What the World’s Greatest Managers Do Differently” and “Culture Eats Strategy for Lunch.” As Executive-in-Residence, Coffman will provide mentorship opportunities to students, exchange ideas with Barton School faculty and staff, and host a conversation with industry leaders. The theme of his residency and title of his keynote presentation is “The Power of You: New Formula for Growth!” Following the keynote, Coffman will distribute and sign two of his books to those in attendance.

AACSB Reaffirms Double Accreditation for Barton School of Business

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University has been reaffirmed for all business and accounting programs by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) for the next five years. This double accreditation keeps the Barton School in the top 1% of business schools worldwide. The Barton School has held AACSB accreditation since 1970.

Barbara Shrut, new advisory board member of the Widener Global Leaders Program (WGLP)

The Widener Global Leaders Program (WGLP) has announced that Barbara Shrut, president of SLB Advisors, will be joining its illustrious advisory board. The WGLP program is led by the W. Frank Barton School of Business and directed by Dean Larisa Genin in collaboration with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the College of Fine Arts at Wichita State University. It is an interdisciplinary program designed to create a transformational experience and foster an inclusive community for women majoring in business, communications or fine arts aimed at developing the next generation of global and transformational female leaders.

The W. Frank Barton School of at Wichita State University has launched a new, industry-aligned Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) program. The innovative curriculum will be taught by top faculty members and focused on the latest industry trends and content to more effectively prepare students for greater responsibilities at the executive level. The 30-credit hour program spans 18 months and will begin October 2023. A key feature of the new EMBA program is students will be paired with a personal executive coach. Their coach will guide them to discover their unique talents and develop a strengths-based approach to solving current and future leadership and business challenges.

Paul R. Attwater III, the Erin and Kyle Cummings Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF) industry faculty advisor

he W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University has chosen Paul R Attwater III as the Erin and Kyle Cummings Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF) industry faculty advisor. Attwater is a Senior Vice President and founder of The Flint Hills Group at Morgan Stanley. As advisor, he will engage students participating in SMIF (recruitment will begin in Fall 2023 semester) to invest $250,000 in stocks, bonds and other securities. Proceeds from the portfolio will be reinvested into the program, with a percentage going to strengthening student experience and success initiatives further.  

HELM + Barton School of Business

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University has partnered with Helm Inc., a leading technology and services provider serving the automotive aftermarket, to initiate a collaborative research project to create “data-driven consumer insights.” With substantial undergraduate students’ involvement, this project investigates consumer attitudes and preferences toward extended warranties across multiple product lines and identifies the key factors driving consumer decisions to adopt extended service programs.

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University announces the selection of three distinguished industry leaders to be inducted into its inaugural, newly minted “Beyond” Hall of Fame. The inaugural group of inductees will be recognized for their visionary leadership and outstanding contributions to the Barton School and community during an induction celebration on February 17, 2024.

Dr. Christopher Garnier, the new Director of Executive Education and Center for Management Development (CMD)

Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University is pleased to announce Dr. Christopher Garnier as its new Director of Executive Education and Center for Management Development (CMD). Dr. Garnier is a managing partner for EdXecutives, an international education advocacy and consulting firm. He is also the former Executive Director of AIT Extension, the executive education and corporate training division of the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand.
