May 01, 2024 — Sophie Martins chose Wichita State University for the opportunities she saw at the university, which turned out for her as she was elected as the student body vice president at Wichita State during the 2023-24 academic year, joined to Legal Education Accelerated Degree that will propel her into law school and is now graduating with her bachelor’s degree.

May 1, 2024 — Iris Okere joined Wichita State University for its affordability and distance to her home in Texas. Here, she found WSU to be a place full of opportunities for her, including a chance grow her own confidence and independence through the challenges she faced, and in her final year, she was elected to the position of student body president in the Student Government Association.

April 25, 2023 - John Kirk returned to college at Wichita State University to study vocal music and dive into activities. He served as Student Body President and came to appreciate the caring atmosphere at Wichita State. John is one of more than 1,500 students eligible for spring 2023 graduation. Aug. 19, 2022 - With initiatives such as roundtable discussions, early voting and voter registration drives, Wichita State University earned a Highly Established Action Plan Seal from the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge. Wichita State is one of 82 colleges and universities recognized for its commitment to increasing nonpartisan democratic engagement in 2022.

May 13, 2020 - Madi Laughlin, president of the Green Group, serves as the supervisor for the community garden. The community garden is a plot of land located northeast of Ahlberg Hall.

May 11, 2020 -- In the midst of this pandemic, the Shocker Support Locker staff have found ways to continue offering their services to the Wichita State community.

April 28, 2020 -- New student body President Rija Khan and Vice President, Mackenzie Haas want to focus on diversity, inclusivity, mental health and campus transparency during their term. The paid hopes to create change by being authentic and advocate for the student body.

Dec. 12, 2019 -- Stella Yang has served in many roles on campus since she enrolled in 2016, including business senator and treasurer of Student Government Association, as well as vice president of Asian Student Conference.

Sept. 24, 2019 -- Social work senior Kitrina Miller is the 2019-2020 student body president of WSU, and she has a few key ambitions for the university this year. Her chief goals include improvements to student services, increasing information about student fees allocations and strengthening the Student Government Association (SGA) brand.

Sept. 3, 2019 -- The WSU Student Government Association operates the Shocker Support Locker in Grace Wilkie 103 as a reservoir of donated items for students facing food insecurity. Now boasting steel shelves and continuous staff presence, the Shocker Support Locker has matured beyond recognition in the past year.
